Description:
The 4-day course will cover the role of a Senior Instructor, preparation and delivery of sessions, course and centre management, powerboat handling in a teaching environment and the RYA Sailing Schemes. You will be assessed on a continual basis including running water-based simulated group management sessions.聽
Candidates must first be an RYA Dinghy Instructor and must fulfil the following criteria prior to the course:聽聽
- Minimum age of 18聽
- Valid First Aid certificate聽
- RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate聽
- Dinghy Instructor certificate, with at least two years intermittent or one year's full time instructing experience since qualifying聽
- Safety boat certificate聽
- RYA Safe and Fun safeguarding certificate (within 12 months of the course) or a previous course that has been taken in the last three years.聽
- Recommendation from the RYA Chief Instructor, or principal, RYA Regional Development Officer/Regional Trainer, or RYA appointed Trainer.聽
- Completed Senior Instructor workbook聽
- Sailing ability to at least RYA pre-entry standard
